This dingy swallowtail (Papilio anactus) butterfly was reared by hand from a caterpillar I found on one of my lemon trees. It was released to the wild as soon as it was ready.

Three small black bees with deep green eyes stick their heads out of a tiny black hole in the bark of a tree. They are very cute.

A velvet worm, Ruhbergia bifalcata, on a pink background. The velvet worm is a deep blue with tiny golden spots.

Soldier beetle, Chauliognathus tricolor, balanced on a leaf. The beetle is green and orange. It looks vulnerable and delicate.
